It’s our 30th birthday in 2018!

Can you help us to help children like Meghan for another 30 years?

Meghan is 6 years-old, she lives in Nantwich and she comes to the Wingate Centre each week. She has Cerebral Palsy, development delay, visual impairment, epilepsy and is non-verbal. She needs 24/7 care. Meghan’s mum Amanda says;

Before she came to the Wingate Centre Meghan was very clingy. She would not make eye contact with anyone else and would get really upset. Since coming to the Centre Meghan has become very sociable. She has made a bond through trust with the gym staff. The Wingate Centre is priceless to us as a family, just to see Meghan so happy and achieving goals that we never thought she would reach. As parents of a disabled child, we face obstacles constantly. The Wingate Centre enables Meghan to be Meghan with no obstacles. The staff believe in her and what she can do, not what she cannot”.

The Wingate Centre does not receive any government funding and we rely on voluntary contributions from generous individuals, companies, community groups and charitable trusts. We need your help in order to survive and raise the sum of £300,000 each year to continue our life-changing work.

Whether you are an individual, a group of friends or a community group, there are lots of ways you can make a difference!

One of the most enjoyable ways to support us is to carry out your own exciting fundraising event! From bake sales and coffee mornings, to sponsored hikes and cycle rides, some fantastic events have taken place on our behalf thanks to our amazing supporters. This not only helps us to raise vital funds but it also helps us to raise our profile within the community! We love to share our supporters’ stories on our website and social media channels too and we will work closely with you to ensure you enjoy your fundraising activities and achieve your aims.

If you’d like to chat about your fundraising ideas and how you can help children like Meghan then please give Catherine a call on 01270 780456 or email

We also host our own fundraising events throughout the year that we’d love to welcome you to. You can find out more information about forthcoming events here.

Or you could donate a raffle or auction prize. Or even send us a birthday present! It’s up to you! Either way we’d love to hear from you.

How does your fundraising help?

Your money really does go such a long way here at The Wingate Centre. As a result of the dedication and loyalty of our team, our volunteers and the efficient way in which we operate, over 92p in every £1 of income goes directly towards enriching the lives of children and young adults who come to us for holidays and recreational activities.

Here is an example of how your money can help:

  • £10 will pay for special food for a child with digestive problems.
  • £50 pays for an item of tactile equipment to encourage movement and co-ordination in a profoundly disabled child.
  • £200 will pay for a child to have a holiday of a lifetime here at The Centre
  • £1500 will pay for a fully padded bed surround for a child with involuntary movement or epilepsy.
  • £5000 will support a 4 night stay for group of 25 children.
