The Wingate Centre is the largest holiday and recreation centre of its’ kind for children and young adults with disabilities in the UK.
The Wingate Centre is a very special place. Home to the Wingate Special Children’s Trust, an independent charity devoted to enriching the lives of children and young people with physical and learning disabilities, we welcome hundreds of visitors, for either short breaks, activity days or to take part in recreational activities, each year.
With our bright, airy and accessible accommodation, our inclusive gymnasium and our friendly and experienced staff on hand to ensure you make the most of your visit, at the Wingate Centre, everyone is able.
Whether you join us for a holiday or a day activity trip with your school or support organisation or use our fabulous sports and recreational facilities as a day guest, you will have the opportunity to develop skills, self-confidence and make friends in a unique and safe environment.
It’s our 30th birthday this year!
In 1988, thanks to the dedication of 8 local families, we first opened our doors, offering gymnastics classes to local disabled children. 30 years on, our services, now with a focus on disability fitness classes, are still very much in demand. Each week, over 200 people visit us from across Cheshire and Shropshire for sport and recreational activities. To date, 10,000 people have had a respite holiday here.
Whether you come along to one of our events, volunteer, donate or fundraise on our behalf, there are lots of ways you can help our charity to make a difference to the lives of disabled children and young adults in Cheshire and beyond
