Every Little Helps
The Wingate Centre is incredibly grateful to have been chosen by the community through Tesco's Stronger Starts programme, where blue tokens are used to vote for local charities. Thanks to this support, we received £500 in funding, which will make a huge difference in the services we provide for individuals with special educational needs and disabilities.
Tesco later visited our centre to capture the amazing work we do, and we want to extend a sincere thank you both to the community for choosing us and to Tesco for including us in this impactful program. Your support truly makes a difference!
The Wingate Centre will be at the Nantwich Food Festival on Friday, 30th August! We'll be sharing information about our community groups, more about our charity, and how you can get involved—whether it's by supporting our work or simply making a purchase at the Sunshine Café.
Whether you're interested in learning about our inclusive programmes, supporting our mission, or just want to say hello, we'd love to see you. Come down and check us out in the town square—we look forward to seeing you!

The Marvellous People at Morrisons
We would like to thank The Morrisons Foundation for awarding us a grant. This is the first time a charity within the Morrisons Nantwich area has been awarded a grant from The Morrisons Foundation.
The cheque handover, from the Community Champion for Morrisons Nantwich, was celebrated with the presence of Eddisbury MP Edward Timpson, our Chair and CEO.
Thanks to this funding, we were able to purchase two specially adapted clinical positioning chairs, which support individuals with physical challenges such as cerebral palsy to use assisted bikes. These bikes provide cycling opportunities for individuals of all abilities, promoting independence and the benefits of exercise. Additionally, the assisted bike enables users to work towards therapy goals in a shorter amount of time. By supporting leg movement and driving momentum, the bike accommodates wheelchair users and those with limited mobility. If you would like to book a session for assisted bikes, please give us a call
With thanks to our supporters in 2023
We extend our best wishes to Geoff Parson upon his retirement, who served as a dedicated Chairman and trustee for many years, contributing significantly to the growth and success of our charity. His leadership and commitment have left a lasting impact.
Additionally, our Vice President Bjarne Rieber, a key supporter and advocate, has stepped down. His contributions, especially to the development and building of the Rieber recreational hall, ensured the expansion of our provision for residentials holidays, while providing additional space for day activities.
We also express our appreciation to the staff members who have left during the year. Their hard work and dedication have been instrumental in shaping the positive impact The Wingate Centre has had on the wider community.
Thanks to all the amazing supporters, fundraisers, volunteers, and businesses who have given their time to the charity and have helped to ensure that the incredible work we do here at The Centre continues.
Springfield School, recently organised a Social Action Day at The Wingate Centre as part of their National Citizen Service (NCS). Demonstrating their commitment to inclusivity and community service, students engaged in outdoor maintenance, including jet washing and leaf blowing.
Springfields School's Social Action Project
Inside the Sunshine Cafe, students helped in the kitchen, preparing and serving Christmas meals to customers, while a third group sold greeting cards and raffle tickets in the foyer. All the day activities were documented by 2 students; this small but efficient marketing team took some great shots of the day and posted them on LinkedIn before returning to Springfield school.
This special day exemplifies the power of collective action and reinforces the belief in equal opportunities for a better quality of life, regardless of ability.
