Team Being treats The Wingate Centre to mini-makeover

Next time you visit The Wingate Centre you may notice our mini-makeover – all thanks to Team Being and their corporate volunteers.

It was a pleasure to welcome Team Being who brought a group of 50 corporate delegates to transform five spaces for their Projects with Purpose event.

In just three hours, their team rolled up their sleeves and gave us:

• New murals in our residential accommodation – featuring calm, Cheshire-inspired scenes in our brand colours, designed so every child who sleeps there feels calm and safe.

• New outdoor seating at our Sunshine Café – perfect for our users and local community to enjoy an al fresco cuppa and slice of cake, or lunch.

• A refreshed sensory garden – with painted tyres, decorated toadstools and a large, new bug hotel.

• New seating around the firepit – ideal for toasting marshmallows and enjoying campfire stories and songs.

• A refreshed Rieber Hall – making it a brighter, more colourful and inviting space.

What is Team Being?

Based in Manchester, Team Being helps businesses plan and run team-building events that benefit staff, organisations and the wider community.

Their Projects with Purpose initiative helps companies to improve the wellbeing of their teams and build their reputation, while benefiting people outside their organisation.

How The Wingate Centre worked with Team Being

Before the delegates picked up their paintbrushes and tools, we shared our overarching aim for the event – to enhance the safe space we provide for:   

• Children with special educational needs and disabilities who visit the centre

• Adults with additional needs who benefit from our recreational activities

• Families and schools who stay in our newly refurbished residential accommodation

Thank you to Team Being and their band of willing workers, whose efforts will be felt by children on their first residential stay, by families visiting the café and by young people discovering the sensory garden for the first time.
