Nantwich students walk their way to a mighty charity donation

Students at Brine Leas School in Nantwich celebrated the end of the school year by presenting The Wingate Centre with a donation of almost £600.

The school’s Lovell House raised the bulk of the money through a sponsored walk by Year 7 pupils in Opportunities Week.

A spokesman for the school said: “Thanks to the incredible efforts of our students and the generosity of their supporters, we’ve raised £580 for each of our three House charities – with sponsorship donations continuing to come in.

“We’re extremely proud of our Year 7 students for embracing this challenge and making such a positive impact on our local community.”

Colette Warbrook, Marketing Officer at the Wingate, who accepted the cheque from the students, said: “A huge thank you to the students and the Brine Leas community for this fantastic donation, and congratulations to everyone who took part or supported their sponsored walk.

“This money will make a big difference to our work to help children and adults to thrive whatever their ability. As a small charity we rely on donations like this to enable us to continue providing inclusive activities and services at our centre in Wrenbury, South Cheshire.”
