Didn’t get a London Marathon ballot place? The Wingate has something for you

Updated: Jul 28

Thousands of runners across the country have found out if they made it into the 2027 London Marathon ballot.

If you’d already started picking your race playlist but didn’t get lucky in the ballot this time, don’t mothball your trainers just yet as we have an equally exciting challenge for you.

Run for the Wingate

The Wingate Centre’s four London Marathon charity places have already been given to some brilliant runners (who you’ll be meeting very soon).

But we didn't want those of you still looking for a race to feel like you’d missed out, because you haven't.

We've partnered with the team at Run for Charity, so you can pick a challenge and help us continue supporting SEND children and adults through our sport and recreation activities and residential accommodation.

Follow these simple steps to get started

1.      Click here to go to the Wingate’s Run for Charity page

2.      Find a full calendar of events

3.      Register your place

4.      Get fundraising for The Wingate Centre

5.      Follow your training plan

6.      Turn up on the day and give it your all

There are just 5 spaces available on each of our 4 featured events – first come, first served!

Pick from:

  • Run Alton Towers – Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 November 2026

  • Nantwich 10K – Sunday 14 March 2027

  • Manchester Marathon – Sunday 18 April 2027

  • Edinburgh Marathon – Sunday 30 May 2027

There’s something for whatever type of running – and event – you love.

Run Alton Towers in November covers everything from a kids’ race to a half marathon across two days.

The Nantwich 10K in March is on your doorstep, which means you can jog to the start line if you like.

If you still have a marathon in a big city location in your sights, Manchester in April and Edinburgh in May are both on the calendar, with places available now.

Pound the streets to raise those charity pounds

Every pound you raise will go directly to the work we do at the Wingate.

  • £80 will deliver an Arts & Crafts class impacting 10 adults with SEND through creativity and self-expression.

  • £580 will allow us to provide 10 one-to-one disability sport sessions, improving fitness and overall wellbeing.

  • £1005 will enable 5 children with SEND to have a 4-night fully-inclusive stay at the centre, where they can be independent, learn new skills and make new friends.

If you're still looking for your reason to run, we'd love it to be us.
